Messages your users might see after a click

Updated

After a tap, most users go straight to the app store or the offer. A few land on one of six pages instead, each titled with the reason. None of them shows the offer’s ID or an error code, and several leave the offer live for everyone else.

The six pages

Titles are exactly what the user sees.

TitleWhy it showedWhat you can do
“This offer isn’t available for your account”Our traffic checks refused this tap. The offer is still live.Nothing for one user. Don’t coach users around it. If many real users see it, send us their sub_id values and tap times.
“This offer isn’t available in your state”The offer doesn’t take players from the US state we placed the tap in.Send state with your Offer API call, so offers that turn that state away never reach the screen.
“This offer has ended”The offer was removed, or it can’t take this tap: paused, full for your account today, blocked on your account or the phone’s OS version is outside the offer’s range.Refresh your offer list and take down cards that no longer come back.
“Download a game”The game isn’t taking new players right now, usually because its budget ran out or it left the advertiser’s listing.Nothing to fix. The user picks another game. It returns to your list on its own if it comes back.
“This offer is no longer available”The advertiser’s side wouldn’t serve the tap: capped, paused or out of budget there.Nothing for one tap. If it keeps happening on one offer, refresh your list.
“This offer could not be opened”We couldn’t open the offer’s link at that moment. Some of these pages show a Try again button.Ask the user to try again in a minute. If one offer fails for many users, send us the offer ID.

Every page tells the user to go back and choose another offer. “This offer is no longer available” never names us or anyone else, because the user could have come from any app.

Before the store

Two short pages can show before any of this, while our checks run in the browser.

  • “Preparing your offer…” with a spinner, the AffiliateOS name and a Continue link, shown briefly before the user moves on. Our team can switch your account to a blank page that does the same work without the name or the spinner.
  • “Find” and the app’s name, with its icon and a Continue to App Store or Continue to Google Play button. Some offers send users to store search rather than the app’s own page, so this page shows the exact name to look for and waits for the tap.

Users who already installed

A user who already installed the app through this offer and was credited for it goes to the app’s store page instead of the offer’s link. The store’s button reads Open. That tap can’t earn again, so it doesn’t count as a click in your reports.

On your own tracking domain

If your links run on your own domain, these six pages show the message without the AffiliateOS name. See Use your own tracking domain with a CNAME.

Messages on the Hosted Offerwall

The wall has its own two messages, “This offerwall link is invalid or expired.” and “No offers yet”. They’re covered in the Hosted Offerwall articles, starting with Open the wall: simple links and signed links.

What to send us

When users report one of these pages and you think it’s wrong, send us the page title, the offer ID, the user’s sub_id and the time of the tap with your time zone. Reporting, then Flight Recorder finds the tap for a converted user by sub_id.
