Test your wall before launch

Updated

View as Markdown

Open your wall as a test user on each device you support, tap through it in test mode, send a test postback, then run one real offer to the end and trace it in Flight Recorder. Each step checks a different link in the chain.

Before you start

  • A test user ID that no real user has, such as test_u_48213. Use the same one throughout.
  • A postback secret and a postback URL that log test=true requests and don’t credit them.

Steps

  1. Open the wall as your test user

Open your wall’s URL with your test ID in uid and the country you’re testing in country. Any launch with a uid is a real launch, so you see what a user sees: your rewards, in your currency, for that country. If you get “This offerwall link is invalid or expired”, fix that first with these checks.

  2. Check it on each device you support

On an iPhone the wall lists iPhone offers, on an Android phone Android offers, and on a desktop every platform. Open it where your users will: in your page’s iframe, in your app’s browser tab or WebView. In an iframe and a WebView, check that the close control does what you expect.

  3. Tap Get in test mode

Add &testMode=1 to the URL and open an offer. Get records the start and keeps you on the wall instead of sending you to the advertiser, and the offer moves into the test user’s My Offers. If you listen for wall events, you receive offer_started with testMode: true.

If your account uses Properties & Apps, the property’s Integrations tab has a Test launch button under “Verify this offerwall”. It opens your wall in test mode in a new tab, for the user property-test-user, signed for you, so it works on walls that require signed links too.

Test mode also skips the iPhone tracking guide sheet that opens before a new user’s first Get (the “How tracking works” line on an offer’s page still opens it). To see the sheet, add &tracking_guide=force and use a test ID with nothing in My Offers.

  4. Postbacks, then Send test postback

Wall conversions reach you on the postbacks you already have. Open Postbacks, open your saved postback and choose Send test postback. It’s signed exactly like a real conversion and carries test=true: check your server verifies it, logs it and doesn’t credit it.

  5. Run one real offer to the end

Without test mode, open the wall as your test user on your own phone and complete an offer you can finish quickly, such as installing and opening a game. This is real traffic: the click, the conversion and the postback are all real. Your postback carries placement=offerwall, your earnings in revenue and the user’s reward in user_payout. What your users are paid explains the fields.

  6. Check it worked

Open Conversions and find your test user’s conversion. Then open Reporting, then Flight Recorder, to trace it from the tap to your postback. Its delivery reads sent or failed, or skipped_no_url when no postback URL matched. On your side, your test user should hold the reward the wall showed, converted to your currency.

What Reporting, Flight Recorder shows when you open a conversion. A failed delivery shows the reason on the last step.
