# What your users are paid on the wall

Hosted Offerwall · For publishers · Updated 30 October 2026
Web version: https://www.affiliateos.ai/help/offerwall/what-users-are-paid

Each step on the wall shows your users' share of what that step pays you, rounded down to the cent. Where the advertiser set the user's reward for a step, the wall shows that amount instead. Either way, the number to credit arrives as `user_payout` on the postback, and it matches what the wall showed.

## Your users' share

You set it in **My Profile**, under **Offerwall**, as **Your users' share**: a percent of your payout, from 0 to 100. A new wall starts at 50%. The wall uses it step by step:

- **Step reward** = what the step pays you × your users' share, rounded down to the cent.
- **Offer total** on a card = the sum of its steps' rewards.
- A step that pays neither you nor the user isn't shown.

We pay you, and you credit your user in your own app out of what we paid. Raise the share to make your wall more attractive to users, lower it to keep more of each conversion.

## Rewards the advertiser set

On some steps the advertiser sets the user's [reward](https://www.affiliateos.ai/glossary#player-reward) itself. The wall shows that amount and your share isn't used for that step. You still credit it to your user yourself, from what we pay you.

## Install-paid games

An [install-paid offer](https://www.affiliateos.ai/glossary#install-paid-offer) pays you once, at install. Its later steps can still carry a reward the advertiser set, and the wall shows them, because players who keep going are what the advertiser is paying for. Those steps pay you nothing. The rewards on them come out of what the install paid you, and on a long game they can add up to more than it.

> **Install-paid games pay you once, at install.** Later steps still post back, with `revenue=0` and `user_payout` set to the user's reward. Credit it: it's the reward your wall showed your user for that step.

## A worked example

Example: Pebble Rewards runs its wall at a 50% share and 1,000 pebbles per dollar. User u_48213 opens Harbor Blocks, an install-paid game, on an iPhone in Texas. Here the advertiser set no install reward.

| Step | Pebble Rewards earns | User's reward | The wall shows |
|---|---|---|---|
| Install and open | $4.20 | $2.10 (50% of $4.20) | 2,100 pebbles |
| Reach level 10, reward set by the advertiser | $0.00 | $1.50 | 1,500 pebbles |
| Offer total | $4.20 | $3.60 | 3,600 pebbles |

Pebble Rewards is paid $4.20 and credits u_48213 3,600 pebbles, worth $3.60. On the two postbacks, the **Pebble Rewards earns** figure arrives as `revenue` and the **User's reward** figure as `payout` and `user_payout`. All figures are examples.

## What the postback carries

On wall postbacks the money fields mean something different from Offer API and link postbacks. Every amount is in US dollars.

| Parameter | On a wall postback |
|---|---|
| `revenue` | What we pay you for this step. Track your earnings from it. |
| `payout` | The user's reward for this step. |
| `user_payout` | The user's reward for this step: the number to credit. |
| `placement` | `offerwall`, so your server can tell wall conversions apart. |

Credit `user_payout` as it is; don't work it out again from your share. Don't add `revenue` and `payout` together: the reward comes out of `revenue`, it isn't on top of it. [Postback parameters and macros, one by one](https://www.affiliateos.ai/help/postbacks/postback-parameters) lists every field.

## When the numbers are set

- **When a user starts an offer**, the wall keeps that user's copy of its steps, rewards and deadlines. A later price change on the offer doesn't lower what they were shown.
- **When you change your share**, the new figure shows on your wall within about a minute, for offers users start from then on.
